2009 Ford Edge
Ford, in the last few years, has really started to gain traction. When Ford Motor Company made Alan Mullaly CEO, it was the turning point for Ford and that shows in the Ford Edge. Since its inception in 2007 the Ford Edge has revived the SUV and CUV sales for Ford. The Edge is a crossover utility vehicle that turns heads as it drives by.
What's New for 2009
Ford has added a Sport Trim to the new 2009 Ford Edge. The Sport Trim is in addition to the SE, SEL, and Limited trims. The Sport Trim has available 22" wheels, with a premium package that adds leather seats, heated seats, and a power liftgate. Another feature of the new Sport Trim is the front and rear body color fascias giving the Ford Edge that sporty look that sits well with the 22" wheels. Ambient lighting was an optional feature but now is standard feature on the Limited and optional on the SEL. Also the voice activated navigation system is available as an option on the SEL, Limited, and Sport models. Another package available is the Appearance Package, this package adds blue suede seat inserts and contrasting blue stitching on black leather seats. These new packages refreshes the Edge keeping its appeal among consumers.
Technology
Ford's updated navigation system is a system that works well with Sync, the hands free voice activated system that Ford partnered with Microsoft a couple of years ago. Sync allows you to pair your phone with the vehicle to make hands free calls, makes a 911 call if the air bags are deployed, and can do a vehicle health report giving you a chance to get a quick overview of your vehicle. A design feature that has been around since 2007 is what Ford calls the Panoramic Vista Roof. This new age roof allows the front two passengers to have power moon roof and the rear passengers a fixed sunroof giving you the feeling of being outside.
Safety
With so much concern about SUVs and their safety, Ford has added many accident avoidance, occupant protection, and personal safety features. The accident avoidance feature is AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control and brake assist. This feature helps you keep all four wheels on the ground by using your braking system and engine to make the needed adjustments to help prevent a rollover. As far as occupant protection Ford's Personal Safety System will tailor the usage of the airbags to match the severity of a crash and Ford's Safety Canopy with Rollover Sensors helps to keep you protected in the event of an accident. In addition to these features Ford has top ratings in safety with NHSTA (National Highway Safety Traffic Administration) receiving 5 star frontal impact for driver, 4 star frontal impact for passenger, and 5 star side impact for rear passengers and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) the Ford Edge received good ratings in all categories.
Ford has come along way in giving what the consumers want. The new 2009 Ford Edge has been refreshed and keeps Ford in the crossover game. With Alan Mullaly behind the wheel Ford should be bringing new vehicles to the market and a new designed Edge in a couple of years to keep Ford Motor Company on top as far as American automakers goes.
