2006 Dodge Charger Rt Daytona

From 3arf

The Dodge Charger R/T may have a good bidding for the king of the road title. It has the shear size to contend with most of the non-truck passenger vehicles on the road. It has a face mean enough to instill fear into all the competition - and as any Machiavelli subscriber knows, as king, it is greater to be feared than to be loved. The torque is practically insurmountable, certainly so within the sub-$40,000 sedan class, and it has a chassis setup sure to please those looking for a comfy ride and those looking for a car capable of handling whatever curves are thrown at it.This is a formidable contender on all fronts.

And yet as fearsome as it is, we still love it. We love all the good things this sedan has to offer. Maybe it is better to be feared and loved. So we shall crown thee, sir Charger. But king of the road is a bit cliche. Not that there's anything wrong with cliches. But maybe we can do better. Or maybe Dodge has already done better. This Charger was already crowned, and painted, Top Banana. What a name, what a color. What a surprise, having prepared for a drive in a Charger Daytona, expecting a "Go ManGo"-orange Charger Daytona with hood and rear fender blackouts bonded on, and seeing instead a brilliant yellow monster set on fresh black asphalt on a bright spring day. We didn't see this coming, not until we actually saw it coming.

And what a trip back in history. This Daytona series of Chargers fully embodies the retro essence of the revived nameplate, brightly sounding the horn for the triumphant return of Mopar muscle to the streets. Memories of Friday and Saturday nights at the dragstrip are rekindled with these vivid colors, and you will see this car at your local hot rod show now and forever more. Heroic images of the Chrysler vehicles in action on the big screen, and on the big tracks of NASCAR, are mimicked here on the hood and fenders. And the sounds of those big-bore carburetor monster motors are revived if not accurately reproduced by the throaty rumble of the 5.7L HEMI V8 under the Daytona-badged hood.

So grab yourself a Daytona Charger in one of those wild colors and enjoy the greatness of the muscle car era with all the comfort of modern ergonomic seats and dual zone climate control. Hit the streets knowing you can smoke sports cars that cost about as much as this car while more comfortably accommodating passengers in the rear, in proud American fashion. Mopar lives, with a little bit of German help.
