2001 Honda Accord ex

Any time a consumer group or news outlet comes up with a list of the most commonly stolen vehicles, the Honda Accord is either at or near the top. For some people, that may be a reason not to buy one, but Accords are well-built cars that can last a long time - even longer with proper maintenance.I have a 2001 4-door Honda Accord EX. I bought it used, with close to 70,000 miles on it. It now has 140,000 miles, and is still running strong. Other than normal wear and tear (tires, brakes, battery, etc.) and mechanic error (thanks,Mr. Tire) I haven't had any problem with the car. It's never broken down, overheated, not started, or anything else since I've owned it. I don't take it in for the regularly scheduled maintenance - only because I can't afford it - but if I did, I imagine it would run even better. My Accord has a four-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower, but you can get the V6 model if you want the extra boost (and leather seats). The EX comes with dual front air bags, moon roof, 6-disc CD changer, cassette player, AM/FM radio, power doors/windows/steering, and alloy wheels with wheel lock.I use my car for work, and most of the time it's filled to the brim with copier parts - motors, clutches, rollers, and plenty more. The trunk is very spacious, holding many of my large boxes. Even weighed down with parts, the car gets almost 30 miles per gallon on the highway, and over 20 mpg in the city.Accords are very reliable cars, which is perfect for my job. I need a car that I know will start every morning, and won't throw a fit even if I have to drive halfway across the state. This is the third Accord I've owned - my 1987 Accord lasted until 170,000 miles and my 1996 Accord made it to over 200,000. I'm hoping this one will go even longer, but so far I've been nothing but impressed with it. The car handles great, and its front wheel drive holds its own even in rain and snow. A four-cylinder engine isn't the most powerful thing in the world, but even at eight years old, it can still accelerate like a champ when I need it to.As of today (11/9/09) a used 2001 Honda Accord EX sedan with 140,000 miles has a suggested retail value of $7,000 according toKelly Blue Book. Not bad for an eight-year-old car.
