تحميض المحيطات
زيادة حموضة المحيطات أو تحميض المحيطات، وهو اسم أطلق على التناقص الجاري للأس الهيدروجيني PH للمحيطات الأرضية نتيجة زيادة امتصاص هذه المحيطات للانبعاثات ذات المصدر البشري لثنائي أكسيد الكربون من الغلاف الجوي.[١] يقدر تناقص حموضة المحيطات في السنوات من 1974 إلى 1994 من 8.179 إلى 8.104 ، وهذا التغير يمثل -0.075 على المقياس اللوغارتمي والذي يمثل زيادة في تركيز شوارد الهيدروجين H+ الحامضية بنسبة 18.9% .[٢][٣] ومع العقد الأول من القرن العشرين فإن صافي تغير نسبة الـ PH بالنسبة للعوامل الصناعية حوالي -11 وهو ما يمثل زيادة في حموضة المحيطات الأرضية بحوالي 30% .[٤][٥][٦][٧]
