Why not to Buy a Sports Car

From 3arf

Sports cars can turn heads and look very flash. For some it is also nice to have the option of a convertible hood. Unless you’re an image seeker and insist on having the trappings of success, there are various down sides to owning a sports car.

Sports cars are expensive to insure and buy. Mostsports carswill have the highest insurance rating. This means in practice a sports car can be up to thirty percent more expensive to insure than a family saloon. If you’re under twenty five years of age the difference in insurance costs could be fifty percent or more.

Sports cars have more design work to make the car pretty and distinctive. The problem with this is, the body panels need more tooling and therefore more expensive to replace than a common mass produced saloon car. Engine parts too are generally more expense. Tyres are often more expensive as well. Repair costs could be doubled with central mounted engines. This is because the seats will have to be removed and often with major repairs the engine will have to be taken out of the car completely.

Sports cars are not practical in many respects. Sports cars are lower to the ground and they can be difficult for an older person to get in and out. Most sports cars have only two seats, which mean if you have visitors you may not be able to take them out and about in your car because there won’t be enough seating.

Some sports cars are so tiny there is no room for any reasonable amount of luggage. Most sports cars have no means to carry large items as there is simply only enough room for two people to sit.

Sports cars can attract unwanted attention from the police and you might be more likely to be pulled over than you would if you were driving an inconspicuous car. Sports car is also more likely to attract the attention of a vandal.

Sports cars are more prone to damage by road debris as they are so low to the ground. A small item like a house brick could be enough to tear of the exhaust pipe if you unfortunate enough to run over one.

Soft tops which are common on sports cars can leak when the car is older, making the seats very wet and difficult to use in wet weather.
