Which is better Homemade or Store Bought Gifts – homemade
As with any debate there are pros and cons to both sides, and although shop bought gifts are easy and supply the requested item they really do not show any care, thought or attention to the person you are giving them to. It is all too easy to pick up the items on a list and be done with it, no thinking needed.
I am not saying the shop-bought gifts are not a good idea or that we should all start making gifts and abandon the requested gifts but it would be nice if more people took that little bit of extra time to show they care. Yes there are sites where you can upload pictures to make cards, mugs and so on but it’s still not handmade. You personally have not spent any length of time creating it, so although it may have their name on it, it’s not really a personal gift.
You do not need to be the most artistic or crafty person in the world to make something nice, there a numerous gift making idea’s for Christmas at your local haberdashery. And with the wonders of Google we are bound to find a whole host of idea’s popping out at us from every angle. Some will be simple to do others more time consuming and difficult but all will be without a shadow of a doubt worth it.
As Christmas, and indeed all holidays are becoming ever more commercialised it is good to stop and contemplate what the holiday means to you, is it just about getting presents or is it about being with family and friends. Most will answer it is the latter, and this is why it is important that we all take the time to do some personal for those we love.
You can bake some cookies, cupcakes, shortbread or even make some sweets. Create your own cards, baubles, jewellery, book marks the list is never ending. You could even make your own stocking and then fill it with little nik naks that you have made for an extra special person touch.
We seem to spend more effort on buying than we do giving, and the difference between the two is vast. By making something for your loved ones you have given your time, care and love to it and with it comes more meaning than any shop bought item could ever hold.
