What to Give someone Who’s already quite well off

There's that old clique that says 'it's not what you get, its the thought that counts' the funny thing is, it is true!

Let me give you two choices and you are only able to pick one:

1. You would rather have an expensive gift, that was quick and easy to choose and the shop assistant even wrapped it in the store!Or2. You would rather receive a gift that had thought love and care put into it, whether it be a CD, a home-made collage or even a romantic dinner and home massage.

I do not care what you all say, I think those who are close with each other would rather the latter, and I know I would. The point here is, for someone who is financially able to buy almost anything of which they desire, they therefore going to prefer in many cases, something more unusual which you cannot just buy anywhere, and most of all something that means something to them.

As an example, my mother recently had a birthday, now she received lots of lovely gifts and when she likes something, she will get it. For my birthday present, I gave her a lovely top and some accessories to go with it, I did however put a lot of thought into each item, and yes she loved it. However, at the end of her surprise birthday weekend, I made her a video clip of all the pictures and videos I had taken over the weekend, and I can safely say out of it all, she loved that gift the most!

So gift ideas...Photos and video clips are always a winner, generally most people are unlikely to make anything like this for themselves, there's not enough time and its one of those things that they perhaps want to do, but never get round to doing it. Therefore make it easier for your loved ones and do it for them! For a winter pressie, you can even buy some wool form your local shop (its not costly) and a do-it-yourself knitting book! My uni friend and I did exactly that for a Christmas presents for our mums and they couldn't get enough of them!Ok, if you want romantic...being a girl I know what I would want. Forget all this jewellery (we get enough from family and Christmas) instead get me flowers, cook a nice meal, set the mood lighting, grab a nice movie, write me a love letter and give me a nice massage...now for me, that beats any gift you could buy. After all, what's better than spending quality time with the person you love?

At the end of the day, whether you are throwing a party or keeping it low key, as long as you have put your heart into it, whether they have all the money in the world.... they will have the biggest smile upon their face!
