What is Biodiesel Fuel and where can you Buy it

From 3arf

We've all seen and heard them. The huge diesel trucks that shudder down the highway, smokestacks burping great explosions of black nastiness. Some of us cringe at all that pollution destroying our air and water, but there is a new wave sloshing into our gas stations. It is called Biodiesel, and it is not just a trend, it is a spectacular alternative.

Biodiesel is exactly what it sounds like. It is a fuel made from biological sources. The most common source in this case is vegetable oil. The reason that Biodiesel is such a wonderful option is.. get this.. it can be used in unmodified diesel engines. This means that diesel-guzzling trucks do not need to go through expensive and time-consuming modifications. They can just pump up with Biodiesel right off and get on the road.

The challenge then becomes the availability of Biodiesel. If you motor around to some of the gas stations in your area, you would probably be hard put to find one that sold Biodiesel. So where is it? Where can you buy it? To answer this question, I typed the question "Where can I buy biodiesel in Utah county?" in Google. I found three listings for gas stations within a thirty mile radius of my home. Hence, perhaps the word for Biodiesel needs to get our more. There are several cooperatives around the country that are devoted to this task, but clearly they have their job cut out for them.

But if you would like to find a gas station that will sell this nice alternative fuel, simply Google it like I did and you will certainly get some good results. Have fun and good driving!
