What is Alternative Fuel

From 3arf

Today the world is vastly different from less than a century ago. Homes were heated with coal, or wood burning stoves. Cars ran on lead gasoline, and planes used a type of aviation fuel that has been replaced by a much more sophisticated blend for todays travels. The air quality was at best, poor. This as a result of all the emissions that entered the atmosphere, whereas if you lived in a city, this was very noticeable as smog, or that peculiar odor in the air that had somewhat of a sulfur odor.

Today, we have embarked on a new quest for cleaner burning, enviornmentally friendly fuels. We find that fuel can be derived from just about anything, and it is that alternative to normal fuel that will set us free from our dependency on foriegn oil or gas. This is not only good for America to help our economic situation, but our environment as well.

Anything that can provide energy such as ethanol, hydrogen, natural gas, methane, vegetable oil, peanut oil, biomass, as well as bio-diesel, fit in the category of alternative fuel. As time goes on, we can be sure of more energy derived from alternative fuels than of anything else in our past.

Oil will still maintain it's value for our roads, tires, and most products that were derived from oil, but for fuel, it finally has had it's day.

We haven't scratched the surface for producing our needs for cleaner energy, as we have become so dependent on fossil fuels as well as propane, coal, and natural gas. However in our quest to be independent of foreign oil, as well as using fuel that would be environmentally friendly, many new sources of energy are considered as an alternate for supplying our energy needs.

One important thing to consider when using other resources for fuel is that the demand it will put on these resources will cost us in other ways. The more the demand for lets say corn-based ethanol will increase the demand for the feed stock and hence cause a rise in price for almost anything made from this source.

There is always a trade off when finding new ways to provide what we need to live our lives in a way that provides the most comfort, and in the case of alternative fuels, we need to be careful to ensure that the use of these alternatives do not impact our finances in a negative way.
