What are Vanity Plates
Vanity plates are just that. VANITY! How many cars have you spotted in the last month with a vanity plate. There are loads out there, and the number seems to be growing as the days go by. More and more people are starting to buy vanity plates than a normal, plain and simple number plate. This is the new trend this decade. Vanity plates used to be something that the young and rich people used to put on sports cars like Porsche's, and BMW, that were fresh out of the garage. This is not the case in 2009. People of all walks of life are getting vanity number plates, and this is surprisingly not limited to the 'young and the restless'. The other day I saw a little old lady driving around in a battered red Ford hatchback that looked like a model that was out in the 1980's. This 'chick mama' had decided to give herself a personalised number plate of '789 - For da OL Gals'. This was quite amusing to watch, and it can be honestly said that more and more people from all different backgrounds, be it young or old, rich or poor, are starting to get vanity plates for their vehicles.
The vanity plate gives a sense of identity to a car. The vanity plate symbolizes the love between the car and the owner. The owner who has decided to get a vanity plate for the car had to fork out a lot of extra money than a normal plate in order to do so. This is the great attachment that the owner feels for the car. The owner with vanity plates will give any thing for the car, and in most cases it is more to make a fashion statement as well. How many of us have seen those rich, spoilt twenty- one year olds drive past in a brand new Jaguar or Lotus with a vanity plate like HOP-1-GB. This ain't so cool for the guy working two jobs,with dark circles round his eyes, driving an old battered up 1960 Datsun that is not even road worthy, but he cannot afford a new car due to the recession, and the fact that he had to take a pay cut at his present job.
Vanity plates are a great way for states of different countries to make little extra money by giving people the option to personalize their car. This is all good news for most states of countries, and lots of countries are cashing in on allowing it's citizens to have personalized plates. Vanity plats are a fashion statement; it is a very'chick 'thing to have , and also many people like the attention that they get from having a vanity plate. it gives them a sense of ownership.
