The only way you're going to learn to enjoy the daily commute to work is to adopt a positive attitude towards the experience. You have to get to work somehow and there are plenty of other people out there in exactly the same position. When you're getting stressed out about the fact you've been stuck in traffic for what seems like forever, look around you and all the other motorists are thinking exactly the same thing. What you don't need before your work day begins is to get all worked-up about the amount of traffic, the weather and all the other things that come with your daily commute.One of the problems with commuting to work is that it usually means getting up earlier than you would like so that you are able to get to work on time, particularly when you know there is going to be a lot of traffic. If you don't get enough sleep you will be grumpy and if you hit the snooze button on your alarm, you may not leave yourself enough time to eat breakfast. You will begin your commute in the worst way possible, being both tired and hungry, making it extremely difficult to enjoy your commute to work. It is therefore important to ensure you go to bed early and get a good night's sleep so that you wake up ready for the day ahead.You could always get someone else to worry about the actual driving part of the commute by carpooling with some of your colleagues or by using public transport. If you're not the one driving you won't have to worry about other motorists cutting you up or the general aggravation that comes with sitting behind a steering wheel. Instead, you can relax and listen to some music, read a newspaper or get something to eat. You may decide to stare out of the window and take in the scenery or get a head-start on your work. The main thing is that you don't become super-stressed.That is why it might be a good idea to use your daily commute as a way of getting some exercise. It obviously depends how far you have to travel, but you could always walk or cycle to work. Even if the distance seems too great to make it all the way by foot or by bike, you could always use public transport as well. Exercise is a great way to kick-start your day, as it leaves you feeling energised and refreshed, which is just what you need when you are going to spend the next eight hours or so sitting in front of a computer screen or dealing with customers. You will also be burning calories, keeping your heart healthy and doing your bit for the environment.It can be difficult to remain positive about the prospect of commuting to work, but if your place of work isn't on your doorstep it is something you have to get used to unless you're prepared to move. You may as well make the most of your journey rather than dwelling on the negative aspects of your daily commute and if you're unhappy with driving to work it is up to you to find some other way of travelling.
