Virtual Assistant Dilemma

Virtual Assistant's Dilemma

A thousand thoughts crossed my mind as I sat at my computer in the wee hours of the morning. Is this better than the lucrative full-time administrative job which I had held for seventeen years?

I know some who would say no. However, with the kids in bed and the house peaceful, my thoughts begin to flow. This is a great opportunity to pursue my dream to achieve a suitable work-life balance.

Would I trade it in? Would I? My passion keeps me going. I remember that yesterday, my six-year old was sick and I was able to be at home with him, while I worked. Trade it in? Trade it in?

The recession has hit VA's in many ways. Yet having tasted the flexibility of pursuing my passion, working at something I love, and still being available to my family, I ask myself – trade it in?

I scoured the web looking for work at home jobs and there seemed more scams than opportunities. I realized that I am not alone. VA’s worldwide are pushing forward despite the odds. I sit and strategize. My passion moves me forward to be innovative and think creatively (out of the box, they say), to do things differently.

Today, I will respond to that advertisement for an Administrative Assistant. Using the right wording I will convince this employer that a VA can more than adequately meet his business needs. I discovered this great networking site, VAnetworking.com, which provides a most appropriate definition of a VA. I am even allowed to use that definition to present my services to prospects. VAnetworking.com is a great place to share experiences!

My current clients must need some services of which they are not aware.  That will be on my agenda today: “Call current clients and remind them that hiring a VA can ease their burdens while allowing them time to re-think their strategy.”

Yes! I need to e-mail that Customer Service Questionnaire for client review. When I do, I will remind the client that he could benefit from some high quality fliers for advertising the April month-end sale. My schedule is drawn up for today.

As I trudge to the refrigerator before going to bed, I am renewed; I will keep going. Tomorrow is another day – or is it today?

My afternoon schedule shows: 3:00 -4:00 pm – nap time.  Flexibility at its max!
