Vehicle Safety Road Safety Driver and Passenger Safety Child Safety Smart Cars
Vehicle safety for drivers and passengers seems to have left along with Ralph Nader. With the high cost of fuel for our vehicles - and bigger cars with bigger engines using so much gasoline per mile, it seems to me that safety has taken a back seat to cost savings. We used to have Ralph Nader looking after these issues. It seems that we don't have anyone looking after these safety issues anymore.
Think driver and passenger safety - when you are purchasing a vehicle. When you purchase a vehicle, don't just consider fuel economy, but think safety first. Purchase a vehicle that is safe for the driver and the passengers.
Today, you can purchase what I believe they call - Smart Cars. I don't really think that these cars are very smart for people to ride in. I definitely don't think that these Smart Cars are safe for anyone, especially babies or children to ride in.
Take a good look at these Smart Cars. They are so very, very small. There isn't anything to them at all. As one person said, it looks like - if a big truck came up to a Smart Car and ran into the back of it, the Smart Car would be hurling in the air like a football that had been kicked for a field goal. These cars are so small, that they couldn't possible offer safety for its driver or its passengers. I hope that people aren't driving these small cars on the expressways.
Another thing that I have issues with is - the type of materials that they are now making cars with. Fiber glass shatters when it is hit hard. Also, where is the protection - when all you have is fiber glass. Auto bodies used to be made with much more metal. The vehicles were much more safer for the driver and for the passengers - if they were ever in an accident.
Lift up the hoods on many of these cars of today. The hoods are so short, and so lightweight. Where is the safety for the people in these cars? Too short of a hood, and if you are in a head on collision, there goes a lot of your protection that you would have had with a longer hood. Many cars are so small, and the car hoods of today are so very light in weight. It wouldn't take very much accident impact at all to total the hoods on these vehicles. There goes your safety, your safety and the safety of your loved ones.
I imagine that these smaller, and lighter weight vehicles are cheaper to manufacture, and cheaper on gas. Being cheaper is not being safer nor smarter.
When you are out looking to purchase a new or used vehicle, take the time to look over the vehicle, and read over the vehicle's manual that tells you all about the vehicle that you are interested in. This vehicle manual will inform you, the reader, of what materials the vehicle is made of, from the front end of the auto to the rear of the auto, and also, inside and outside of the auto. Read all about the vehicle you are considering purchasing. Do your homework before purchasing a vehicle, and make sure that the auto you purchase for yourself and for your family - is safely and sturdily made.
The vehicle manuals will also inform you of all the safety devices that the vehicle comes with, such as seat belts, airbags, the materials that the doors are made of, the materials that the exterior of the vehicle is made of, and what all has gone in to the making of the interior of the vehicle.
Side crashes can many times be very dangerous, many times - fatal. You do not need light weight doors, that are made of fiber glass. You need doors, that are made of good, sturdy metal for safety. Also, there are things that auto makers can add to the interior of the doors to make them safer, in case the car is ever in a side impact accident. They can add more than air bags. Air bags help in many accidents, but air bags are dangerous, even fatal, to babies, children, and small adults. Also, ride as far away from the air bags as safely possible. Air bags come out with a lot of thrust that can do harm in the event of an accident. Do your homework before buying a vehicle. Choose the right car for you and your family. Choose safety first. Keep everyone safe in your car.
When you purchase a vehicle, I know that you want to find a car that you really like, perhaps one that you really fall in love with. Please keep safety in mind, too. Read all about the vehicle before you make the purchase. Be aware, and buy smartly. Think safety for you and your loved ones.
If you have babies or children who will be riding in your vehicle, make sure that you have the correct, safety seats for them. Make sure that these baby and toddler seats are safety approved, and make sure that these seats are properly installed for every ride that an infant, baby, toddler, or child takes in your vehicle. If an infant, baby, toddler, or child is riding in the vehicle, be sure that they always ride in the back seat of the vehicle. The back seat is the safest seat for babies and children to ride in. Also, be certain that everyone in the vehicle is properly seated, and properly secured before the ride begins.
Also, for safety sake of you and your loved ones, please don't use a cell phone while you are driving. Don't make phone calls, don't answer phone calls, and don't text message, don't do anything with a cell phone while you are driving a vehicle. Safety first please. This helps to ensure your safety and well being, your passengers' safety and well being, and the safety and well being of pedestrians and other people who are driving, riding, or walking on the roadways.
Please think safety first. Purchase a vehicle smartly. Have everyone in your vehicle seated securely and safely. Drive safely. Don't be on the cell phones and don't fidget with the controls in your auto, while you are driving. Keep your mind on your driving, and your eyes on the roadway, and keep your hands on the steering wheel.
Have the correct baby/toddler/child seat in place correctly in the back seat of the vehicle - before every ride. If an infant, baby, toddler, or child is riding in the vehicle, be sure that they always ride in the back seat of the vehicle. The back seat is the safest seat for infants, babies, and children to ride in. Also, be certain that everyone in the vehicle is properly seated and properly secured - before the ride begins.
Please be extremely aware of motorcyclists, bikers, skate boarders, and pedestrians who are using the streetways. Be kind, courteous, and be safety minded. Drive courteously. Drive safely. Drive defensively. Help keep our vehicles and our roadways safe for everyone.
