Toyota should we Encourage them in their Honesty – No

From 3arf

No certainly not, the Toyota Company has been extremely honest and straightforward about this problem.  Now, isn’t that what we are wanting in this day and age where we are tricked, persuaded, and not given honest answers in all areas of our lives.  As well as that, we are being hoodwinked by politicians every day.  Large corporations are selling us less than perfect goods for our money, and then using all manner of reasons and excuses to persuade us to accept quietly and (more or less) go away.

We are asked by politicians to accept theories and proposals for war (so called) solutions that we know go against many of our ethics and beliefs. No straight answers are given by any politicians to any questions they are asked.  There is no honesty.  Here is our chance to receive honesty gracefully.

The Toyota company has faced this problem head-on and given us the truth and they are faced with having to lose millions because they have recalled all these vehicles, and rightly so.  Let’s face it, 2009/2010 so far, have not been good years for the world monetary problems. We have accepted the banks taking trillions of dollars/pounds from taxpayers, and then paying exorbitant bonuses to their CEOs and managers.  In UK we have been asked to accept an inquiry into the Iraq War that is farcical to say the least, with all perpetrators being treated extremely gently with the questions being organised around the "required" answers. The outcome already known.

If this strategy of Toyota’s was a PR and/or marketing ploy we would be shouting from the houses, streets and anywhere we could shout from, or maybe we would be accepting it like we accept all the other dishonest strategies that are dished up to us by large corporations every day.  However, obviously this is not a planned business strategy, as the Company is now faced with more expense mounting to billions of dollars.

Yes, the Toyota Company could and should have found the problem whilst the cars were being manufactured, and no doubt someone, somewhere is to blame for the negligent way in which these cars were produced. There were obviously not enough efficiency and supervisory checks made during the production.  Nevertheless, the technology and design ideas and manufacturing processes incorporated into new cars is extremely complicated and therefore would need constant examination by people with the right expertise.  Was that being carried out?

It is certain that after this problem has been solved and the company has checked all manufacturing methods, used the most efficient checks and balances during the design and production stages people will be able to purchase a Toyota vehicle in the knowledge that the Head of this Company Mr. Ahio Toyoda has made sure that this terrible mistake has been faced with perspicacity and steadfastness and will possibly be endeavoring to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.

Mr. Toyoda also apologized on ABC Television on behalf of his company.  That kind of courage these days is to be admired by all.

We have seen in years past large corporations dodging and hiding behind many excuses and even using scapegoats, rather than admit to very bad errors. People have even died when pharmaceutical companies have sold medicines that were not ready for circulation and then going to the extreme to escape discovery.

Other motor companies in recent history have refused to deal with problems that have occurred in their vehicles.  These companies have even proceeded to take many steps to manoeuvre out of these situations by telling lies and hiding from the truth, even after being besieged by thousands of people complaining about the same problems.  This is abhorrent and we the citizens of the world accept this as being the norm.  Maybe it is time we stopped accepting situations like these.

Let us not criticize Toyota for this oversight/error/mistake – whatever the case, but praise them for being honest and after they have rectified all the problems make all large corporations accountable for what they sell to us, otherwise these things will continue to happen.

Every human being is important in this world, and what we purchase for ourselves with our money, whether we are rich, middle or poor is important.  Therefore instead of being complacent and accepting ideas and situations that are not right, everyone should praise the perpetrators when things are rectified and honesty is utilized.

Nonetheless, we must make sure we shout very loudly when things are not rectified and not presented in such a way that we are satisfied with the outcomes.  Shout from the streets, the rooftops, the buildings, the courts – everywhere when things are not to our satisfaction.  We must not remain half asleep to what is happening around us and to what a small minority of dishonest, unethical people in the world are attempting to do to us.

When we begin to encourage companies like Toyota for being honest and rectifying the problems at great expense and; losing a certain amount of market share for a short time, we will hear news about more of these corporations endeavoring to “be more honest”.  They might even see it as a better way to maintain their businesses and satisfy their clients more fully.

No, let's not berate or not buy Toyota, we should be rewarding this kind of behaviour in this day and age.
