Toyota Prius 10 Hybrid Features Prius Ii Iii Iv v
Toyota's 2010 Prius uses nature, namely sun and wind, along with advanced hybrid technology to provide a ride that is good for drivers and the environment alike. Prius 10, as its called, is third in its generation and a full hybrid.
Toyota uses wind technology in improving Prius Hybrid's aerodynamic capability. Accomplishing this application occurs through use of what is termed "underbody panels" or "underbody covers". These panels are located at the underside of the Prius chassis.
Prius aerodynamics are also embellished using what is termed "Aero Corners". Aero corners have to do with shaping Prius bumper edges so as to decrease wind resistance. Lowering wind resistance improves miles per gallon (mpg).
Prius utilizes wind technology even further through its low coefficient of drag. Coefficient of drag has to do with vehicular curvature. The curvier vehicles are the better their aerodynamics. Better aerodynamics creates better gas mileage.
To get a better feel for coefficient of drag, consider the shape of the Elements. Elements are very boxy and thus their aerodynamic capability would be about as high as a square UPS truck. Prius' drag score is 0.25. This score is among the lowest drag score any car has ever received.
Prius 10 key features consist of:
Touch Tracer Display - allows your fingers to control vehicle temperature, audio, and trip information shown on the information display by touching buttons on the steering wheel.
Solar Roof - Solar panels in Prius roofing uses sun energy to cool the car after you exit the vehicle. This means drivers and passengers could reenter vehicles that do not feel scorching hot from sitting in the sun.
EV/Eco/Power Modes - These different driving modes allow you to choose driving for vehicle responsiveness, fuel economy, or battery use only. Using battery alone, however, is a short-term operation - approximately miles worth. It must be noted that because Prius is a "full" hybrid, it can begin accelerating by using its electric motor alone, rather than incorporating constant use of its gas engine, as does "mild" hybrid cars.
