Top five Concept Cars

From 3arf

Every year the major car manufacturers release their latest and best concept cars onto a fleet of waiting consumers at auto shows across the globe. Some of these cars will hit the market with some minor alterations, while others will never see the light of day.

Acura has one of the coolest looking cars to come along in a long time, with the MD-X. The car first appeared in drawings at a New York auto show, but so far the drawings are the only glimpses the public is getting. The car looks like a cross between a new Dodge Charger, and a PT Cruiser with a low lying and sleek feel. This model will be priced at $50,000 fully equipped.

The Dodge Challenger concept car is leaving classic car buffs panting in anticipation. Adding to the allure of this update on a classic, Dodge plans to run ad campaigns with the look and feel of the 1970s; one event even showcased a short clip featuring scenes from The Vanishing Point with a Dodge Challenger as a main character. This car looks so much like the original that its hard to believe Dodge kept it off the market for so long. Dodge currently has no plans to release the Challenger, but if word of mouth keeps spreading this car may go from a dream, to reality.

The Porsche Panmera is a long fulfilled dream for many; the luxury of a Porsche, with the stability of a family car, or as close as Porsche will ever get to a family car. When this 2010 model is released in 2009, it will be only the fourth car in the luxury automobile manufacturer's lineup. Half the cars will be released in North America, with the other half in Europe and the company is considering a sport-wagon version to be released later.

2009 will also [hopefully] see the release of the Chevy Camaro Convertible. This concept car was highlighted at a Detroit show, and was influenced by the original 1969 Camaro. The officially relaunched Camaro will appear in a coupe model in 2008, with the Convertible arriving the following year to compete with the Ford Mustang. The show model featured a bright orange paint scheme with black racing stripes, perfect for the classic car lover who doesn't feel like waiting for Dodge to deliver the Challenger.

Last on the list of top concept cars is the Aston Martin Rapide Concept, designed to compete with Porsche. This four door car has a sleek look, and luxurious feel, complete with the marketing campaign to match.

There's a quick look at the top five concept cars. Some you may see on the market, but others may never make it to the light of day.
