Top Give Gift Trends for 2010

From 3arf

To point out which are going to be the top 5 gift trends for 2010 is quite a tough one because going through such a tough financial crisis as we are going through, spending and thinking about gifts is probably the last thing on anyone's mind. But as the good old saying goes 'the show must go on' and whether we are in crisis or not children, who are oblivious to the difficulties of life, are expecting gifts for Christmas and on the other end of the scale we could indeed cheer up people who are going through a particularly hard time with an unexpected gift!

The number one thing to remember for 2010 is that it would be indecent and downright insensitive to buy any sort of gift that was not useful to the receiver. Gone are the days of giving vases or weird works of art that nobody knows where to put because you present your victim with the headache of 'what am I going to do with this?'

1. So probably the number one gift trend would be to give gift vouchers. These can be bought, for the value that you feel you can fork out going from €20 to as much as you can. The person that receives the gift voucher need never tell you what he used the voucher for and If you buy it from a large department store and he is really hard up he can go straight to the food department to stock up for his family for a week or so.

2. Tickets to see the latest show or stage performance in the nearest big city or if your budget doesn't go to that then some tickets to the cinema to see the latest film. These are things that people never seem to get round to doing as something else more important always seems to crop up but if they are presented with some tickets then they have to respect these dates and attend and it is nearly guaranteed that they will enjoy this treat that they would not have given to themselves.

3. If you have a friend who is out of work and on the dole then the best present that you could give him is to matriculate him in some course which once completed would open up his possibilities of finding another job twofold. There are so many ideas that I wouldn't know where to begin but you knowing your friend would have a better idea of which direction your friend would like to go in, but I am going to be daring and suggest a few careers that are always in demand such as security guard, taxi driver, tourist guide and school bus driver.

4. Another great present in these harsh times would be to invite them and their family for a night out at a nice restaurant. It need not be the best there is in the area, but at least one that gives a good value dinner.

5 And finally for the people that you know  there will always be the trend of giving either men or women their favourite bottle of perfume.  There is a crisis yes, but some luxuries are just too difficult to give up completely!
