Tips for a Pirate Themed Wedding
Weddings are far from traditional this day and age. Couples can get away with choosing nearly any theme. A fun twist to add to an outdoor ceremony and reception would be a pirate theme. In doing a pirate themed wedding and reception there are many things couples can do to set the mood of the theme.
-Costumes. Everyone is familiar with the typical white dress and tuxedo of the bride and groom. Couples could go to a halloween store to purchase outfits for the wedding. Bridal gowns should be a shorter length than the traditional wedding gown. Perhaps the bride could spot a visible garter with a fake dagger placed in it. Eye patches are a must. Men and women can wear an eye patch. Large gold earrings would be a good jewelry choice for both women and men with pierced ears. Thick gold chain necklaces would fit the costume as well. Knee high trouser socks or fishnet stalkings topped off with black high heeled boots is a fine way to finish off the ensemble. For the gents a nice white dress shirt and rolled up denim shorts or a pirate costume would be acceptable attire. Black shiny boots to top of the outfit. A fake hook can be worn
-Flowers. Tropical blooms with brown thin rope tied in a bow on the bottom would make a lovely bouquet for the pirate bride. Centerpieces can contain the same tropical flowers surrounding glass hurricane lanterns with sand or seashells in the bottom and a simple white candle on top. Garlands of seashells can be used as table accents as well. Eisle ways can be decorated with tropical flowers topped with fake parrots. Place cards can be labeled Buccaneers and Wenches.
-Reception. Fill tables with tropical flower centerpieces. Use pirate hats, fake parots, and seashells as favors. Cake should have an ocean theme. Seafood would be acceptable fare served at a pirate themed wedding. Shelled peanuts in wooden bowls on tables would help add to the theme. Bride and Groom can toast from large steins rather than traditional toasting glasses.
Themed weddings are not complicated to put together. They may in fact prove to be more simple than a traditional wedding. Time, creativity, and having fun are the main materials needed to put together an unusual theme wedding. One thing is for sure with a theme wedding, you will have a blast at the event, and it will be a day you will never forget.
