Tinkerbell Birthday Party
While many little girls love the Disney princesses, there are a few who are more enchanted by the Disney fairies. Tinkerbell and her friends have captured the imaginations of a whole new generation of little girls who dream of having a special fairy of their very own. While you may not be able to capture a fairy and bring it home to your child, you can give her a birthday party that is filled with pixie dust and fairy dreams.
Like any other good party, the best place to start is with the cake. A good place to look for ideas is Wilton.com. They even have a cake pan that is shaped like Tinkerbell. Another option is to make cupcakes, and either arrange them in the shape of a flower With different colored cupcakes in the middle, or put icing flowers on them. Either way, they are a great alternative or addition to a full size cake.
Decorating the house like Pixie Hollow can be a lot of fun, too. You can make green tissue paper leaves ahead of time, and even use floral garland to give the feeling that you are in the heart of Pixie Hollow. You can use several different colors of streamers, because although Tinkerbell herself loves green, she has friends that wear blue, yellow, and pink. It is also not uncommon to see the light fairies practicing rainbows in Pixie Hollow. Keep this in mind when you are decorating.
As each child enters you little Pixie Hollow, you may want to hand each of them their own set of wings. You can buy these at most $1 stores, especially around Halloween, or you can make your own out of wire hangers, old nylons (preferably white) and some glitter. While Tinkerbell does not carry a wand, your little fairy may prefer to carry one. You can make an activity out of decorating wands. Start with a simple dowel painted silver or gold. Make some tops for the wands, including stars, hearts or even circles that they girls can glue on. Add some narrow ribbon, and plenty of glitter (use glitter glue for less mess) and you have some adorable wands that the girls can take home as party favors.
This is the kind of party where you can just let your imagination run wild. Have fun with it. and don't be afraid to enjoy planning as much as the party itself.
