Thoughtful Gifts or Expensive Gifts
Father's day is a time to celebrate and express the love you have for your father or husband. And there's not a better way to show him you care than to get him a heartfelt gift. All too often people get into a frenzy about which gifts to give their dear one; but when all is said and done, it's not the most expensive gifts that will be treasured, but rather the most thoughtful ones that will mean the most.
You've spent your whole life with your father; from the very moment you were brought into this world, to this very day. Even if you may now be separated, there's no way to deny the impact he had on your life. As you've spent these years with him, you've probably noticed some of his interests and passions as you live out your life beside him. Within these interests, there's often something that can be purchased to enhance or compliment his passions.
And those make the perfect gift for him! He'll use it in his day to day life, and each time he does so he'll think of you. He'll think about how well you must know him to get a gift so perfectly suited to his personality. It doesn't have to be expensive. If he fishes, you don't have to buy him a new boat. However, he may appreciate if you bought him a better rod than his current one. Pricy gifts will pale in comparison to ones that he uses and treasures.Handmade gifts are also a big hit. How much you must love him to take time out of your busy schedule to make something by hand for him! There's no way a store bought object could compare to something you yourself made, at least in his eyes. Make him something you're good at. I recall one time I wrote my father a letter about how much I loved him. It touched him deeply, and he still has it to this very day.
You may think he would like something expensive over whatever you got him. And he may, but that's ok. Whatever it is, he's bound to cherish it because you're his son/daughter. You showed how much you know him and how much he means to you by taking the time out of your life to find the perfect gift for him. He'll always remember that.
Those who spend lots of money on their father don't prove anything. Love can't be bought; neither can't heartfelt gifts. Anyone can give away some money for their dad, but that doesn't mean you love or know him. If you get him that perfect gift, it's often times something simple. Something that makes him smile, makes him remember you each time he uses it. It reminds him of your love for him. And that's why expensive gifts don't matter nearly as much as thoughtful ones.
