Thomas the Train Party Ideas
Thomas the train is the talking blue engine who speaks in mostly rhyme and shows little ones how to be kind and helpful to others. If your child is a Thomas the Train fan, planning a Thomas the Train birthday party will bring out smiles on your child’s face and his or her friends' faces. Having a Thomas the Train party does not need to be expensive and most of the items can be handmade.
Invitations
Instead of buying Thomas the Train themed invitations make them from your home computer. Some ideas would be a train ticket invitation. Use card stock paper and using Word and a ticket template you can create the invitation in minutes. Another idea is to take a picture of your child in a train driver uniform, download the picture to the computer and make an invitation using the picture.
Decorations
Make train posters using poster board and markers. Draw your child’s favorite engines on the posters and hang them throughout the house. Buy an inexpensive white table cloth and paint train tracks on them and if you are really crafty paint Thomas the Train engines on the tracks as well. Other decorations will include: Thomas the train themed plates, cups, napkins and balloons.
Games and Crafts
Thinking about having games at the party? There is plenty of Thomas the Train themed games that the little ones will love. Use one of the posters you made for the decorations and play pin the steam whistle on the engine. Crafts can also be fun for the little ones. Have each child make a train using shoe boxes and other household items. For something simpler, print out train templates from the computer and have each child decorate one and link the trains together and hang them on the wall.
Cake
You don’t have to be a baker to have a cake that will wow the little Thomas fans. Buy a train mold and decorate it to look like Thomas. Another great idea is to buy a sheet cake in Thomas colors, blue, black, red, green, etc. and buy Thomas the Train miniature engines and stick them on the cake.
Party Favors
A great way to end a party is to hand out party favors. Going to your local party shop you can find train shaped boxes. Fill each box with Thomas stickers, train whistles, and a Thomas the Train activity book. You should be able to find these items at your local party store as well.
