The Purpose of the Stop Sign

From 3arf

Believe it or not, there really is a purpose to a stop sign. I know you believe rolling through the stop sign is ok, but it really is not a good idea. I know you believe blowing a stop sign is okay, but it could cause an accident. You could kill somebody just by disregarding a stop sign.

I woke up into the twentieth century and realized the stop sign had become a thing of the past. The stop sign no longer meant stop to many of the people who live around me. I continued to stop at stop signs because I am old fashioned. I believe in following laws. I do not want to hurt or kill somebody because I was too careless to stop at the stop sign.

What happened? When did the stop sign become I will stop when and if I want to sign. I believe it still has STOP in capital letters on the red sign. I believe stop still means to engage the brakes until your vehicle comes to a complete stop. I looked up the definition of stop-come to a halt, stop moving. It still means the same thing it meant in the twentieth century.

Okay, so you do not care about anybody. That must be the real issue. You see the stop sign, but you are too important and everybody else in the world means nothing to you. If you hit somebody, it is their fault because they got in your way. If you blow a stop sign and kill somebody, they should have gotten out of your way.

Now we know you care more about yourself than the rest of the world. If you blow through a stop sign and kill somebody, you can be arrested and charged withmanslaughter. While you are sitting in jail, you can think about the person you killed.

I know you hate me because I made a big deal about stopping at stop signs. I'm agoody too-shoestype of person. I believe that each person should obey the laws and care about what happens to other people. I do not like driving on the road and not knowing when somebody is going to blow through a stop sign and come right me. I care about the safety of my wife and children. I follow the laws of the road because I want the driving experience to be safe.

Next time you blow through a stop sign and nearly hit me. Please do not wave and smile at me. You nearly injured my family and I am grumpy. Instead of waving and smiling, please follow the rules of the road. Stop completely at stop signs each and every time. Care about your neighbor. Stop completely at stop signs each and every time. Care about somebody besides yourself. Stop completely at stop signs each and every time. Follow the laws of the road and make the driving experience safer for everybody concerned. Please, stop at stop signs.
