The Link between a Degree and a better Job

From 3arf

What is the link between a degree and getting a better job? Logically speaking, a piece of paper doesn't indicate that you are more qualified for a job, or not qualified for a job. Anyone can get a piece of paper, and they are not all qualified to be a doctor right? No, it isn't the piece of paper, it's what that paper says about you, and what you have been through.

That paper says that you have gone to college, and that you have gone through extra schooling. Not everyone goes to college and graduates. It might seem like getting through college is a foregone conclusion, but there people who don't get to finish college due to lack of funds, or because they don't have the right mindset to get through school.

It says that you have decided that money is no obstacle to your success and you will do whatever it takes to get to the top. It shows that you are willing to put in the extra work that it takes to get into college and succeed there. Nobody forces you to go to college, and it shows real maturity to get in there and do that extra work.

A degree shows that you are willing to separate yourself from the pack. You don't want to be average, and you don't want to be someone who settles for just the bare minimum. Getting your degree shows that you want to differentiate yourself from those who either didn't go to school, or weren't able to finish school.

It doesn't matter if you go to a state school, or if you go to Harvard. Do you want to get your foot in the door? You will go to college. You simply lose out on the chance to get the skills that you need to succeed in the workplace. College professors can teach you so much more, and colleges can offer you so much more in terms of hands on experience before you get to the workplace.

The degree is not simply a piece of paper. It says that you are willing to sacrifice to get where you want to go. It says you are willing to get the skills that you need in order to succeed. It says you want to be different, and you are willing to what it takes in order to get to where you need to go.
