Thanksgiving Planning Thanksgiving Event Giving thanks Thanksgiving

Oh my goodness everyone is coming for Thanksgiving dinner! In-Laws, Parents, Sisters, Brothers, Nieces, Nephews, Everyone! Not to mention the friends who will be stopping by to spread their Thanksgiving well wishes. How in the world are you going to get everything done? The house needs to be cleaned, the food needs to be cooked, decorations need to be put in place and the kids need to look presentable instead of the dirty creatures they tend to morph into once they go outside. Well have no fear some simple planning and preparation can make the Thanksgiving holiday a less stressful, more relaxed event.

Make a list several weeks before Thanksgiving. This list should include what your meal idea's are, what decorations you want to use and what days you will have free to do the cleaning and decorating of your home preferably a few days before the big event. Mark these days off on your calender, in your PDA or you can even send yourself an email alert that you are to be cleaning and decorating on that day. A list is a great way to organize what you are going to need and also what you have to get done.

Once the Thanksgiving holiday draws near you can get your food shopping in. Make a list of the items you will need to get from the grocery store and bring a pen with you. Head to the store a week before the Holiday. Check off the items on your list as you go through the store. Not only will you prevent yourself from forgetting something and forcing yourself to do the mad dash before the store closes but you will be prepared early so you can prep some meals before they hit the oven.

Your cleaning and decorating day should be soon after your trip to the grocery store if not on the same day. After cleaning the house to your satisfaction you will have the day to decorate. This may include changing curtains, replacing a table cloth, adding a Thanksgiving centerpiece and adding autumn decorations to your living room. Having the day set aside for this gives you time to play around and find the right look for your Thanksgiving event instead of trying to do it 15 minutes before your guest arrive.

Meal preparation for Thanksgiving dinner should start the day before you are going to serve your meal. Plenty of foods normally served as a Thanksgiving meal can be prepared the night before and stored in the refrigerator until you are ready to cook them. Casserole dishes, stuffing the turkey and drink mixes prepared the night before can save you an abundance of time on Thanksgiving day.

Using simple planning and some early preparation for your Thanksgiving event will have you less stressed and more relaxed. You will actually be grateful and thankful to your guests for holding the special event in your home.
