Taillights what Color would you like to see

From 3arf

You've been on the road now for over four hours. It was dark shortly after you set off on your journey, and now it's drizzling. The traffic on the motorway is heavy, and the water on your windscreen is mixing with the road film and grease, blurring the hundreds of tail lights into a psychedelic wall of fire before you. In an effort to refresh your concentration, you steal a couple of seconds to massage your tired and irritated eyes. It's only been a moment or two, but when you re-focus on the view ahead, your foot is already going for the brake pedal as you see the wall of fire fast approaching, you brace yourself for the imminent crunch.

It may seem radical, but let's wind back the clock, take a few minutes out and just imagine!

You've been on the same journey for the same amount of time. The only difference up to now is that you haven't felt the need to rub your eyes. Before you joined the motorway, you were stopped at a red light. Your signal to go was a green light.

So this time, you've joined the motorway, it's just as busy and it's still drizzling. The only difference is that all the tail lights are green. Not only is it more restful to the eye, but red brake lights would be far more noticeable amongst the green tail lights.

Another benefit to this is that red brake lights wouldn't need to be as bright, so when you're waiting in traffic behind a motorist who's sat with his foot on the brake, you wouldn't be dazzled the same.

I know there are many who would dismiss the idea without a thought, and perhaps even laugh it off as absurd, but what if?
