Swot Analysis Usp Market Research
One of the most important departments in a company is the marketing department. It is very important because it promotes what the company has to offer in terms of goods and services to the public. And if that promotion is good then that might mean more business to the company and more profits. That is why a company needs to hire good marketing people. People who have studied marketing at degree and/or diploma level and people who have experience in marketing.Among the things that one studies in marketing are topics like marketing strategy, market segmentation and target segmentation,SWOT analysis,Mission statement and your USP and they are all very useful in a firm if it is to succeed in its marketing campaign. I think some of these concepts can be applied to ourselves as individuals especially when looking for that next job.For example if you were to carry out a SWOT analysis of yourself(SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) you would learn a lot about yourself and see where you fit in in the job market. Also what is your unique selling proposition(USP), in other words what makes you stand out among your competitors in the working enviroment? Is it your personality, experience, knowledge, exposure?Just as when a company is marketing its products it needs to stand out among the many other companies that are marketing similar products so also do you need to stand out among many others who are looking for jobs similar to what you are looking for. Because when you apply for a job you market yourself to potential employers. So you must be able to present something which is unique to a prospective employer but also of value. A good university degree from Harvard is unique yes but is it of value to your prospective employer if it has not taught you the skills you need to do the particular job he has available for you? Also the work place is now changing. Employers want people who are multi skilled. So it is good to analyize yourself and ask whether you have have the skills required. Do a SWOT analysis! Also ask yourself, 'what is happening around me, in my enviroment which might impact on the job I choose to take up?' Read newspapers, magazines. What jobs are on offer, what are employers looking for? All this is part of marketing! So that when you apply for that next job you know exactly why it is that job you are applying for and you have a greater chance of getting it because you have done your market research and your SWOT analysis. And most likely the one interviewing you might see all that in the confidence you show during the interview. Then who knows, you might just get that job offer!
