Summer Jobs how to Make sure they don’t Interfere with your Personal Life

From 3arf

School has come to an end and teenagers take to the streets, malls, theaters, and anywhere else they can meet with their friends. They spend their time driving dangerously fast, listening to insanely loud music, and spending their parents money. They have no responsibilities to speak of and stay out all night and sleep until noon. They contribute very little to the household and take whatever cash they can get their hands on. Finally Mom and Dad decide they are done coughing up all that dough anymore. Just like that, the music abruptly stops, and it is time to get a job.

Teenagers may be reluctant to find a job during the summer time for fear that they will have no time to socialize. I have actually had the opposite experience with summer jobs. Although, I have missed an occasional camp out, party, or other social events due to work, I have made many new friends at work. Working during the summer doesn't always mean that you will be cooped up constantly.; it does mean that you will learn the benefits of a hard days work. You will learn how to budget your money so that you can afford all of the running around you and your friends like to do. Most importantly, you will begin to learn what it is like to be an adult.

Just because responsibility has forced itself upon you does not mean that the good days are over. There are still several ways that you can be sure you can still maintain an active personal life.

- Choose a job that will work around your schedule.

- Choose a job where you can actually have a little fun.

- If you prefer to socialize at night than work during the day or vice versa.

- Try to plan social functions in advance so you can give your boss written notice of when you need off.

- Make friends at your workplace, so you can socialize after or before work.

- Invite your friends to your workplace to visit you every now and then as long as it doesn't interfere with your job.

- Take advantage of your days off! Meet up with your friends and have a good time.

Follow these tips and you will find that some extra money in your pocket will actually help enhance your social life. Although working during the summer may seem a little dreary at first, once you make a few new friends it will all be worth it. With some careful planning you and your friends will be able to get together on your time off and have a great time spending your own money instead of your parents.

Have a great summer!
