What can you do alone? Not much so, everyone needs to embrace teamwork.
Reason
In an era when some leaders strife for a position in which they have unquestionable authority when things go well, but offer excuses or blame others if things are going offers an argument for true teamwork. Unquestionable authority provides an atmosphere that will lack the creativity to get the work accomplished. A statement such as I am the decider implies a level of reluctance to hear conflicting arguments. Sometimes the answer to questions rests with a simple modification of one idea or the combining of ideas. Without a willingness to work with others, we limit all tasks to our own skill sets. A leader, who believes in the first four letters of the word leader, finds ways out of problems beyond him.Within all of us, is a person looking for recognition? Yes, most are not looking for unquestionable authority but the acceptance of their contribution. A group may join in with someone's idea, but they want to buy in and feel a part of something beyond themselves. With the sharing of the task I becomes we and problems of a singular thought patterns comes with only the cost of sharing success and even failure. A leadership style called servant leadership provides the means to help everyone within a team. When we connect with others and ask for their skills, we acknowledge a willingness to explore what they have to offer and provide a means for them to meet their own needs. When an employer looks to offer a paycheck for the labors of another, may check to see if they have the skills, but cannot expect their efforts without meeting the employment contract as well as an understanding of why they accepted the employment. With an understanding that the individual has needs for themselves or others within their sphere of influence, an individual acknowledges a person's value. How many people would continue to work without a paycheck?Language provides a starting point. When a project begins, the leader needs to verbalize the goals of the activity, and success measurement means and then discuss how all members of the team contribute to the group. The leadership within a team is to fulfill the leadership role of guaranteeing understanding of all of the requirements of the tasks and the strengths and weaknesses of the team members. With the molding of the strengths and weaknesses provides the means of stepping beyond the work of one set of hands.
Use the word we and see how much more can be accomplished. We are more cost effective than I am. The cost of entourage mentality comes with a huge price tag.
