Some Decadent Cocktails for your Winter Wedding
Winter weddings are some of the most unique and beautiful celebrations to behold. As signature cocktails are appearing more often, brides and grooms are finding new and imaginative ways to put their spin on this momentous occasion. Here are six cocktails to put that special finishing touch on your big day.
Candy Cane Cosmopolitan
This festive take on a classic is a fun way to add a touch of whimsy to your Christmas wedding.
Rim a chilled martini glass with crushed candy canes. In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 ounces of strawberry vodka, 1 ounce of white crème de menthe, 2 ½ ounces of cranberry juice and some ice. Shake and strain into the prepared glass.
White Russian
This classic drink has stood up to the test of time, and brings an air of elegance to any black tie wedding.
In a pitcher, combine 1 ¼ cups of vodka, 1 ¼ cups of coffee liqueur, and 1 ¼ cups of heavy cream. Give it a quick stir and pour into ice-filled glasses.
Hazelnut Coffee
While the picture-perfect snow is falling outside, your guests will be thankful for this decadent warm treat.
In a glass coffee mug combine 1 ½ ounces of Irish whiskey, ½ an ounce of Frangelico, and ½ an ounce of Bailey’s Irish cream. Pour in some hot coffee and top with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
Peppermint Patty
Hot or cold, chocolate and mint is a constant winter favorite.
Combine 1 ounce of peppermint schnapps, 1 ounce dark crème de cacao and 2 ounces of cream in an ice-filled old-fashioned glass and stir. For a hot alternative, add the alcoholic ingredients to a mug of hot chocolate or coffee and finish with whipped cream and decadent chocolate shavings.
Cranberry Mulled Wine
If you are having a family-style dinner or country-themed wedding this winter, break out the mulled wine for a more relaxed atmosphere.
In a large stock pot, combine the following ingredients:
750 ml Shiraz1 cinnamon stick2 star anise2 slices ginger2 oranges, halved & juiced2 lemons, halved & juiced2 limes, halved & juiced1 cup sugar1 cup cranberries4 cups apple cider
Bring it all to a slow simmer for 1 hour and adjust sugar to taste. Serve the mulled wine strained into glass mugs.
Cranberry Champagne
As delightfully simple as it is tasty, this cocktail is perfect to celebrate any wedding.
To a champagne flute add cranberry juice and champagne. Garnish with frozen cranberries to keep the champagne tart and chilled.
