Ability to drive a bus
Obviously, the first thing you will need to be able to do as a bus driver is to be able to drive a bus. There are different types of buses and you want to be able to drive the type of bus that you are going to be driving. For instance, there are the mini-buses, the more standard school buses, city buses, and even bigger buses such as double-decker buses or buses that are elongated. You will want to be able to be very skilled at driving these because it can be very dangerous if you are not. Obviously, your skills are what are keeping everyone safe. You should be skilled not only at basic driving but also at avoiding accidents.
Another important skill is defensive driving. You should not be cutting people off or letting your emotions get into your driving. Even if things take a little longer, the most important thing is safety.
You should be good at dealing with people
It is important for you to be able to deal with people. Many different people will come on your bus, and you do not want to have a problem. It can make a big difference if you know how to interact with people in a positive manner. If someone comes on who gives you a problem, then good people skills can help you deal with it in an effective fashion that ends with a good result. The last thing you want to have happen is to get in a fight while driving the bus.
