Scooter Maintenance Tips

From 3arf

Like all other bikes, scooters do need to be properly maintained for efficiency and longevity. It is therefore important as a scooter owner to take good care of your scooter. Proper maintenance will guarantee you maximum efficiency. There are some vital tips that will help you in maintaining your scooter which are mentioned below.

1. Check the brakes regularly

Brakes are very essential in making sure that your scooter can stop when need be. If your brakes are worn out this can cause you to experience nasty accidents when riding your scooter which could have been avoided. Brake fluid should be topped up regularly to make sure that your brake pads are functioning properly. Lack of brake fluid simply means that your brakes will not be functional.

2. The tires

Look out for any cracks on the scooter tires especially during winter. You should watch out for nails on your path when riding your scooter to avoid any punctures and damage to the tires. Always make sure that the air pressure in your tires is at the right pressure, if you notice any deflation this may be indicative of a slow puncture which you must repair at once.

3. Check the fork seals

When there is no oil in the fork seals this will result in experiencing poor suspension functionality which will damage your scooter. Look out for any visible leaks and keep the fork seals oiled at all times.

4.Change the oil regularly

You should change the oil regularly so that your scooter is functional at all times.

5. Top up the coolant

Make sure that the coolant is topped up at all times for maximum efficiency regardless of the weather.

6. Keep the chains and sprockets in good condition

Winter can be harsh to the scooter chain, by causing it to seize it, making it weak in various places. Loosen all the chain links and make sure that the sprockets are not worn out.

7. The lights

It is essential for your scooter to have proper lights at all times. Check to see that all the light bulbs are working well and have a full beam of light when switched on. This also means that the position of the lights should be in the correct position which will not blind oncoming drivers and cause an accident.

8. Service regularly

A well serviced scooter will cause you less trouble and will serve you efficiently than one that is not serviced.
