Science Fiction Parties
Theme parties are becoming more and more popular, mainly due to the Internet. At one time the main themes were either centered around holidays such as Christmas or Easter, with maybe a special birthday such as the "sweet sixteen" or the "big Four O", but then the Internet started and people began to explore other options. Not only were there new ideas, it became much easier to locate supplies and have them sent directly to your home. It was like something out of Science Fiction. Is it any wonder that now there are Science Fiction birthday parties?
Setting up a birthday party with a Science Fiction theme can be as simple or complex as you want, there are a lot of science fiction books out there. One of the first choices is what type of Science Fiction Party do you want. Will it just be everybody dressing up as a Sci Fi character, similar to a Halloween party or do you wish to specify one particular series from Television or books?
The Halloween type of party is easiest, just send out the invitations with "come as your Favorite Science Fiction Character for _____ birthday. The cake can be cooked as something from the birthday person's favorite program, such as a Star Gate. Younger kids will find this fascinating and everybody will come dressed differently, though you may get extra an Spiderman or two. It is a simple and fun Sci Fi birthday party.
Using a specific series of Science Fiction from either Television or books might require more planning and be more challenging. One important thing is to make sure everybody coming enjoys the series and knows it! Something like Star Trek is exciting and fun. You can either assign characters, or just tell people to come as who they think best represents them. Hopefully you won't get too many Mr. Spocks arguing with an excessive number of Dr. McCoys! You will also need to decorate the house to look like the Starship Enterprise (Red Doors to the Bridge). Of course you can always take just one episode located on an Earth-like destination or pretend it is the Holodeck!
Science fiction birthday party? It can be something as simple as a Science Fiction Costume party or as complex as a Television production. Whatever you chose, make sure it is what the birthday person really wants! It can be a lot of fun, but just takes some planning!
