Resume:Your resume needs to stand out and get noticed by the employer. Your resume must catch the attention of the employer right away. It takes less than 10 seconds for a resume to be turned down by an employer.

Today's employers like the action resume.  The action resume will get attention.  Put together your resume in a way - that it literally shouts outwith good action qualities about you. You are selling yourself with your resume to obtain the job. You want the employer to choose you - above all the other job applicants. In your resume, state ways that you saved your previous employer money, or saved your previous employer time, or how you increased productivity for your previous employer.  State ways that you went above and beyond what was required of you at your previous employment.

Human resource professionals highly recommend that you use action verbs in your resume. Sell yourself to the employer with an action resume. In your resume, tell the employer that you are a take-charge person, who gets the job done, and state examples in your resume.  Address your strengths - that show you are an excellent fit for the job and for the company.

Your resume should only be one or two pages in length. Employers won't spend a lot of energy or time on reading a long winded resume. Employers want to be able to find the information they need quickly.  A resume that is too many pages long won't get read by the recruiter.  They will miss a lot of your important information in a resume that is too long.  They will pitch a really long resume into the garbage can.

After finishing your resume, check it over to be sure that it is correct.  Put in correct dates, correct company names, and correct information.  Do spell check to make sure there aren't any spelling errors in your resume.  Read over your resume to make sure there aren't any grammatical errors.  Have someone else double check your resume also.  You don't want to loose out on that job opportunity by sending in a resume with errors.  Hiring personnel will pitch an incorrect resume into their garbage can.

Many people are submitting their resumes online.  It is quicker and easier to submit a resume online to an employer.  Many human resource personnel recommend that you submit a second resume by regular mail to the employer.  By submitting an online resume and a hard copy resume, you will increase your opportunities of getting noticed by the hiring personnel, obtaining that face to face interview, and being offered that job you want.
