Qualities of a Toxic Job

From 3arf

There are many jobs that you are going to have in your lifetime. It is a fact that you will probably have more than one career, and many jobs in that career path. Whether you are working in retail, or you are working in professional sports, or in law, you are going to work many jobs. Most jobs are good for you, but some are toxic for you. What is a toxic job?A toxic job is a job that isn’t just not fun to go to. We all have bad days at work and times where we wish we could quit our jobs. However, a toxic job is a job where it could not just affect your days, but it could effect your life after work as well. A job becomes toxic when it starts to influence how you live your life when you are off the clock. What is an example of this? A good example of this is having a boss that doesn’t believe in you, or makes things personal. Your boss might think that because you are short, you don’t have a chance to move up in the company because you don’t have the right look. However, instead of simply coming up with other reasons not to promote you, he comes right up to you and says you are a midget who won’t ever go anywhere in life.Perhaps you are being bullied at work. If there is a bully at work who constantly makes fun of you, or always has something negative to say then it might make the job toxic. If there are people around you who make you look at yourself differently, or cause you to isolate yourself, it might be a toxic job that you have right now.Say you have just come home from work on Friday, what are you thinking? If you are thinking about how you need to go out and drink, or how you can not go to work on Monday, it might be a toxic job. Sure, no one looks forward to Monday, but most people at least enjoy the weekend first. If you use a lot of vacation time quickly, or call in sick a lot, it might mean you are working in a toxic environment.Plenty of people work in jobs that could be considered toxic for their careers, or their health. If you are working with people who don’t believe in you, or just plain bully you, it could be a sign that you need to find a new job. If you avoid going to work, that is a pretty good sign you work in a toxic place.
