Pros and Cons of Online Training in the Care Professions

From 3arf

Online training is becoming popular at a tremendous rate. There are advantages and disadvantages of using this mode of learning, but the magnitude of the effect of the mode of learning is greatly affected by the course. In the care profession, there are some courses which are offered online.

These courses can be pursued by different categories of people who have recently graduated from high school. The other group consists of people who are already employed. There are those who want to advance in their careers while others want to shift into a new career.

The key advantages consist of one, the convenience of pursuing the course independent of the geographical location. Most students who pursue their courses online usually train from their homes or in their offices. Traveling from one place to school is at times hectic and also time consuming. These programs are also offered at a subsidized fee as compared to other learning modes.

The other pro about pursuing courses online, is accessibility to learning to complete learning materials. It is easy to do research online than on physical books. It is also easy to access many materials and latest materials online. Another pro is the ability to pursue courses online from another part of the world. There are prestigious universities in different parts of the world, but they may be out of reach for most people due to their location.

Another pro that cannot be overlooked is the ability to complete the course within a short time. This is because the course can even be pursued during the summers. It is possible to take three semesters in one year. The other modes of training mostly deliver the learning materials in two semesters.

However, there are a few drawbacks about pursuing courses online.  One of the cons is the risk of getting certified. There are some agencies which are not accredited and they are only interested in the student;s money. The other key con about online training in the care profession is the lack of hands on experience. A hands on experience is very important in this career because guess work is not permitted.

Some skills can be taught by using simulated videos, but there are a number of skills that should be taught practically with the supervision of an instructor. One on one interaction between the tutors and students is very important, and in online training this interaction is very minimal. Since there is no supervision, this may make the students a bit reluctant. Only self disciplined students will complete their course in the allocated duration.

The care profession is one of the best paying careers in most parts of the world. Apart from that, it is very easy for a person to get a job. A student should, therefore, consider the advantages and disadvantages of the mode of learning they are using.
