Presents for Teenage Girls
Buying for teenage girls is a lot harder than you think. Even if you know what is cool or in style, you usually get just the one they hate, whether it is the wrong color, size, shape, brand or whatever, you just can't win for loosing it seems. Rather than ruin the fun of Christmas surprise and secrets by asking them what they want, trick them into showing you, it works every time.
Tell them your doing a sub for Santa and you have x amount of dollars to spend and let them help you buy it. Go with them and tell them they have to help you get the right stuff, they can help by picking the present, color and all. Then haul it home and wrap it up and pretend to deliver it, or take it somewhere else until Christmas. This will guarantee that they get something they like, want and is cool enough for them after all, they picked it themself.
If you don't want to be sneaky or your kids know better than that, here are some ideas. Buy them all subscriptions to teen magazines, the popular ones. This is a universal gift for girls from age 12 to 18. Listen to their music and see who they listen too. Buy them some Cd's from the same band. Girls are usually big hint droppers, listen to what they are hinting about and go get it.
Make-up and beauty products are usually winners. Getting their nails done is one that girls like as well as tanning cards. For girls that want to stay in shape or lose weight a pass to the health club or gym. A certificate to get their hair done, styled, colored, cut the whole works, girls spend more time on the phone and their hair than anything else. Get them their own phone line either cell or home phone with their own number. This is a present for you and her. You don't have to answer the phone every ten seconds and have your line tied up. She gets to let everyone know she has her own number.
Believe it or not, girls like things for their cars. Cool floor mats, air fresheners, seat covers and things to keep it clean. Certificates to the car wash or to get their car detailed is a good gift as is oil changes and things they don't want to pay for or do themselves.
Things to hang on the wall, drape over the bed and decorating items are usually a good bet as long as it is something that they like or in their age range and not babyish. New bedding, pillows and display shelves or mirrors are great items too. There are stores that sell, cool lights, bead doors, projector images and many different items that girls love to decorate their room with.
Gift cards, for clothes, movies, food or any other activity or place they hang out with their friends is a good gift. Tickets or passes to concerts, bands or the local dance hang out is a good idea as well. Dance lessons with a popular style dance or dance type they enjoy is also a good idea.
Open them a savings account in their own name that they can't withdraw until their twenty-one. Encourage them to put money in it as well. All of their earnings or a good portion of them. Another gift idea that always worked for me, was coupons, from me to them. One get out of trouble free card-no strings attached( I hated it when they used this one). One stay up/stay out extra late coupon. One talk to me or tell me anything and I promise, I won't be mad at you and you won't get in trouble with me for it coupon ( I found out more things, I didn't know and was a glad I did, with these ones). One make your favorite meal coupon. One I do your assigned chore for one day coupon. You get the idea. They use these coupons too saving them for the moment when you least expect them to use them. Of course, there's the gift of a million uses, cash, dressed up nicely in a card or with a small gift for them to unwrap. So they can buy what they want all on their own or nickel and dime it away with their friends like most teenagers do at the mall.
