Porsche 911 2010

From 3arf

Porsche have been designing some of the most mechanically brilliant and engineering-ly spectacular cars ever made for a long time. Although their design department can be accused of being lazy (the Porsche “look” has not changed in decades) you could not accuse the rest of the company of being anything less than magnificent. Porsche enter 2010 looking for the same success they have enjoyed commercially and mechanically for years. The Porsche 911 has lead the Porsche line-up admirably for a long time and has done so with great success. A car with virtually no mechanical flaws, the 911 is the epitome of engineering perfection. With a ride, handling and responsiveness that no other car can match, the 911 is certainly an all time great and it is back again in 2010 to flex its muscles once more. The main ingredients of the 911 have been kept the same for many decades now, dating back to the cars inception. The exterior, minus some small updates, looks virtually the same and is a great display of classic sports car styling. The interior is attractive, well organised and luxurious offering a comfortable ride under most circumstances. The same horizontal, six-cylindered engines that have always been used are still used today. Whilst the Porsche looses out a little on horsepower, it makes up for it in torque. Porsche, with their excellent engineering have always managed to get more out of their engines with seemingly smaller numbers and it is no different with the 911.The standard 911 comes with a 3.6 litre H-6, capable of around 350bhp. As one moves up the different versions of the 911 that there is on offer, the engines go up in power. A 3.8 litre capable of 385bhp and 3.6 litre capable of 435bhp are available to those needed a bit more speed. The last engine on offer is the 3.8 litre twin-turbo H-6 that can power out around 500bhp, pushing the 911 into range of Aston Martin and the higher end BMWs and Mercedes. The price of the 911 starts at around 50,000 pounds and, depending on the options and model chosen, can reach around 90,000 pounds. Whilst this is expensive, this is far less that one would expect to pay for the equivalent model that its rivals offer. Fuel economy is also very decent, for a high end roadster/sports car with the 911 maxing out at around 25mpg.The safety features are as good as one would expect with ABS coming as standard along with front, side and side curtain airbags also included. Both traction and stability control also comes as standard. The car is also available as a coupe and convertible and comes with rear-wheel drive as standard, with four-wheel drive an option on certain models. The Porsche 911 is a fantastic car with a virtually flawless driving experience. With classical styling outside and luxury inside, this car impresses on all fronts. The price is great value for money when one considers the price of an Aston Martin or a Ferrari and it is relatively practical as well. There is so little to be negative about this car that one would be accused of nit-picking. This is the very peak of mechanical and engineering perfection.
