Popular Street Bikes
There are many of us that have ridden street bikes I for one are a sport bike enthusiast. I think that the younger crowd tends to lean more toward the sport bikes because of the sleek look and they are a lot more nimble and much faster than say a Harley or a chopper. There is nothing like the feeling of twisting the throttle and taking off like a rocket ship so to speak. I have owned many sport bikes my favorite would be the Yamaha. I think that all the manufactures make good bikes it just depends on what bike makes you feel the most comfortable while riding.
Some people are not built for riding a sport bike. It is hard to be comfortable on a sport bike if you are too tall or a little on the heavy side. I think that the taller or bigger people would be much more comfortable on a chopper or a Harley. It is hard on the body when you first start riding. You need to lean a lot to turn sometimes and shift your weight quickly if you encounter a quick or sharp turn. This may be difficult for the taller and heavier rider. I think in order to enjoy the sport of riding it is important to feel very comfortable and confident with what ever you may be riding.
Street bikes come in all different sizes. There are sport bikes that range from 250 ccs all the way up to 1400 ccs. For the smaller rider or if you are just starting out I would stick to a 600cc bike or smaller. As you become more experienced you will then be ready for the one liter and bigger bikes. Also some street bikes like the Harley and Honda road bikes are designed more for the leisure distance rider. If you want to enjoy long trips with the wife or girlfriend then you should stick to a Harley style bike. If you are looking to go fast and even do some track racing then the sport bikes will be more appealing to you. There are also many manufactures that make mini bikes which a blast for the younger crowd. They are basically a mini compact version of the real thing with usually about a 50cc motor or slightly bigger. These types of bikes are good for cruising around the neighborhood because most of the mini street bikes are not street legal.
There are many places that sell parts and accessories for you street bike needs. For custom street bikes there are many websites that sell after market products like nitrous kits, fender eliminators, flush mount turn signals and pretty much chrome anything for most sport and street bikes. I think that if you are a first time rider then I would buy a used street bike. To find a used street bike try the Cycle Trader magazine or the online sites like Craig's List and EBay. If you are after a brand new bike then you can go to the local Honda or Yamaha dealer and check out what they have to offer.
I think that it also very important to respect what ever you ride and obey all the rules of the road. I am a Yamaha man myself but you can be the judge of that. The Yamaha for me is the most comfortable to ride and has the most get up and go. I think that the older crowd is more comfortable with riding the Harley's and us younger guys like to feel the power and definitely like the look of the sport bike or as some would call the crotch rockets.
