Parties and its the first one

From 3arf

Perhaps it's happened to you. You are about to really state your opinion. You feel fairly strong about it, but you know that it's not going to be well accepted. What do you say? Do you temper yourself and just say what everyone wants to hear? Well, today I show no restraint.

The most important thing to remember about a child's first birthday and having a party is that is has nothing to do with the child. The child is not going to remember it. He or she may enjoy parts of it. The party, however, is all about the parents, grandparents and maybe some extended family members and friends.

Parties are always a good time. I think you should go ahead and have the party. A first birthday party is a wonderful photo opportunity. So perhaps you can find a theme that will give guests good lighting and great backgrounds.

The extravagant cake should be displayed at an angle. This way poses can be set be around the theme cake and the guests can truly enjoy all the hard work. It would seem that most cakes are chocolate. It's not very scientific research, but I have seen a lot of baby books. Almost every one I have seen has a picture of a toddler with chocolate cake spread all over the face. This is how you tell who the guest of honor was. It is a must. Later there is usually a picture of the same child asleep while everyone else is still "playing".

Helium balloons always seem to be a part of the equation. They are very photogenic. There is usually an adult or two who sound like Mickey Mouse by the end of the event and it's a good way to keep them entertained.

Have plenty of adult food on hand. You want them to be happy and content. You are going to need baby sitters as the children begin to wind down. It's rare that the person of honor doesn't give up on the party before the festivities are over.

I have to admit my niece had the perfect first birthday party for her little one. (That translates for me to enjoy.) There was an elaborate and cute cake and the balloons. The locale was supreme. We were at the lake with life jackets, boats, fishing poles and jet skis. Tucker took a few rides and had a nice trailer to nap in. There were plenty of photos. I am looking forward to another birthday in that family.

Happy first to one and all. I hope you were at least brave enough to smile.
