Nursing Heatlh

A need fornurses, will always be prevalent! Just as funeral homes will never go out of business, nurses, will never be out of work! Despite the fact that many hospitals throughout the country have closed, the unemployeod nurses will soon have work. There are so many options for nurses, whether they like working first, second, or third shift, and whether they work in hospitals or in an other patient-care area. There are out-patient, same day surgery establishments, for those nurses that only want to work 7-3 and no weekends. Nurses can work in doctors' offices, pierce ears upon retirement, work in psychiatric wards, separate from hospitals, work in schools (with the proper certification), or informatics, for those that love technology.

Various certifications are available, as well as degrees, for those that want challenges. Perhaps you, as a nurse, want to be a professor at a college, and run nursing student clinicals. Maybe you would rather be more of an "event planner" and run workshops and staff development at local hospitals. Some nurses even use their background in science to work in pharmaceutical companies.

Nursing homes will always need nurses, and with 50% of the current population being over 50, it is clear that there will be need for nurses in such places. Some people in this medical field prefer working with children, that are terminally ill. There are hospitals in New York that pay 6-figures for working 4 days a week during the daytime. Do you, as a nurse, want to work 3 12-hours shifts on the weekends, to get paid for 40 hours, and be off during the week? Do you have an undergraduate degree in psychology and an R.N. and A.A.S. in a community college. You certainly have different credentials than those who just went for a 2-year degree before applying for the Boards!

While nursing schools may be obsolete in near future, getting at least an Associates degree that could be applied to a B.S., makes more sense than just going to these nursing schools. New Jersey changed the law last February, where, if a student has a B.S. in anything, then an R.N., that student does not have to get a B.S.N. before applying the graduate school for a Masters. The beauty of getting a nursing degree is that is can vary, depending on one's lifestyle. If a woman is married, and has children, she can set her hours to be convenient for her. The types of places she earns her money can change over time too.

People will always be getting sick, so the nursing career field will always be plentiful, where that nurse will be able to "write her ticket". During a baby boom, more nurses will be needed with her field; for now, it seems like geriatric care is the popular and plentiful care that is needed. Nurses will never go out of business and the outlook is a great one. It is regarded well, and respected. Nursing is a professional career, not just a job. The health care industry is in need of a lot of good workers, especialy nursing. This degree will never go out of style, or become obsolete. It is probably the best career move or career change that anyone could have!
