New Years Resolution on Losing Weight

From 3arf

I guess it's the time of year when everyone is obsessing on self-improvement. Being that it is still Holiday season, pounds are being packed on and gluttony is at an all time high. It's like the preparation for our annual Biggest Loser challenge with ourselves. The more (weight) you gain, the more you lose, right? I am no exception. It is December 27, 2007. Two days after Christmas. Phew! I can't remember the last time I ate sooo much. (Probably at Thanksgiving.) I decided to jump-start my New Year's resolution (to become more fit) a week early. It all began on Monday, Christmas Eve. At six o'clock that morning, I did some yoga and ran for about 20 minutes. Then, being a life-long procrastinator, a girlfriend and I hit the shops for some last minute Christmas shopping. For once in my life, my Christmas list was all checked off, so it was Christmas shopping for gifts for myself. Hey, if you don't take good care of yourself, who will? I did pretty well right after my workout. I had an acai smoothie for more energy. However, once I reached her place, she had rice, bacon and eggs ready for consumption. BTW, I heart bacon. Needless to say, it was de-lish.It's pretty much a given that Christmas Day and the day after were my work out days off. I mean, it isn't like the gyms are open on Christmas. And even if they were, who on earth works out on the said date. So my diet and exercise reverted back to my usual that day: nonexistent.So... Today, December 27, two days after Christmas, and I am ready to get back on the wagon. Now, I didn't work out in the morning, because well, it's drizzling out and a bit depressing. Nevertheless, it's after noon now, and I'm up and ready to take charge of my fitness. After I finish up this article (fitness is, of course, mental as it is physical), I will run some minutes and work on the weight machines. Afterward, I will have a healthy meal. Perhaps a salad or an all-fruit smoothie. Whichever. No more late night munching. No more booze hound. Well, of course the weekends don't count. How can you have a good time if you aren't just at least slightly buzzed. (I guess that's another resolution, huh.)How long will this last? I sincerely have no idea. I'm motivated to exercise and eat healthily sporadically. I wish it were something that I loved to do. I wished that I woke up every morning and it's automatic that I stretch and work out before my day actually begins. My workout buddy and I are working up to this... starting next week. I'm the absolute lazy one, so I need a week's head start in order for it to work. I want to do AM workouts, eat breakfast, pack healthy lunches, cook healthy dinners, have healthy snacks, consume only 1300 calories, be a lean, fit, sexy mama.I hope that the plan sticks next year. It would be nice, just once, to have a different New Year's resolution. Like, write a novel or learn to sew or save $200 each month. But until then, there will always be: My New Year's resolution is to lose weight, be healthy and feel great!
