New Years Eve Party Ideas for Teens

From 3arf

New Years Eve is a great time to enjoy good company, food, and drinks.  Many parties are centered around drinking games though, which of course is not suitable for all age types. There are many different types of activities that are suitable for teens, as well as fun non-alcoholic drinks, and appetizers.

If you are the parent of a teen, it can be a very cool thing for you to do to let them host a New Years Eve party at your house.  Don’t be scared of the idea of this, it’s not as bad as it sounds. With the proper amount of supervision, a soiree at your place can be fun for you, your teen, and their friends.

Simple decorations are all you need for a teen themed party, since they only care about hanging out with their friends. Your teen will probably enjoy decorating the place themselves anyway. You can take your child shopping for a few decorations such as balloons, streamers, and themed plates and cups. When it comes to snacks and drinks, make sure you pick up some of the basic items such as soda and potato chips. A fruit and vegetable platter is also a nice touch. If you want to have some more trendy appetizers, you can try some ofthese simple recipes.

For delicious virgin drink ideas try an easy fruit punch. To make this fruit punch, mix equal parts of different kinds of fruit juices with ginger ale. You can add orange slices as a tasteful garnish. Soda pop is always a big hit with teenagers. If the party isn’t too large and you have the desire to make fun drinks for your child’s guests, you can even make root beer floats. These are simple to make; just fill your glasses ¾ full with root beer, then add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

Teenagers usually entertain themselves when they are together, but to get the ball rolling try some of these fun, interactive activities:

Twister: This classic game is sure to break the ice and get the party started.

Jenga: Although this is a game only suitable for a few people it is a good game to have handy.

Truth or Dare: If you feel comfortable with your teens playing this game it can be great fun for them.

Dancing: This is a simple activity but can be the main attraction, especially if there are a lot of people at the party. Just make sure that your teen has an adequate setup so they can play their music.

Try a theme:  Neon theme, or glow in the dark theme are just a couple of fun ideas.

So with a bit of planning ahead and some preparation you can host a stress free New Years Eve party. Make sure that you supervise the teens throughout the night but do your best to be “invisible”, because your teens are at the age where they are embarrassed to have you around. Your child will appreciate you giving them some responsibility. Have a happy new year!
