Mturk Amazon Mechanical Turk
I first read about mturk.com in an article about quick ways to make money a month ago. When I read about it, I thought that there was no way that was legit, no way anyone could really make money like that. But then again, I am skeptical of most internet sites that claim things like that. Despite my hesitations, I decided to give it a shot. And I have been very pleased with it so far. For one, it is easy to use and some of the tasks are very simple. Second, if you do a lot of tasks in your spare time, you can earn quite a bit of money. Along with the good side of Amazon mechanical turking though, there are a few bad sides.
It was easy to use. Simple. Everything was right there in front of you, with lists and lists of tasks that needed to be done, and how much each person was willing to pay. Sure, a few of the tasks (called HITS) were hard, and a few could only be done by certain people. But it was still great. One of the tasks included tagging an image with twenty tags. While this HIT was only worth 1 cent, it went by fast, and if you did it for a long time, you had the potential to earn quite a bit. Another example of a HIT you can do pays a little more money, but is also a little harder to do. One requires you to write a 300 word article about an online merchant. Not too hard, though it seems like it at first.
I’ve been a little lazy about doing the work on Amazon, but so far I have earned just over twenty bucks. And I have two options. I can link my bank account to mturk.com, or just use the money right there on Amazon.com to make online purchases. Pretty cool, I have to say. My boyfriend read an article about a woman who made enough money on mturk.com to furnish her whole house. I though it was pretty cool. Just do it whenever you have free time, and you could make some good money to spend on whatever you want.
The bad sides of this? Well, first off, sometimes it takes forever for HITS to be approved and for you to get paid. It can take up to a week. Another issue is for a lot of HITS, you have to take a qualification test before you can even accept the HIT, and some are just impossible for you to do.
Overall, mturk.com is an awesome way to make money and I would suggest it to anyone with a lot of free time on their hands that would like to make some extra money. My experience with this site has been great and I plan to keep going with it.
