Movies that everyone in the Family can Enjoy

From 3arf

To come up with a list of heartwarming movies is easy. To come up with a list of movies the whole family can watch is equally not hard. But to pick out movies that every family member will actually enjoy will need a special list.

Here’s a look at some stereotypes to illustrate that many family movies only truly appeal to some members of the family and will rarely appeal to all.

Moms love heartwarming movies. Many of these movies, you will see on theHallmark ChannelandLifetime Movie Network. They will make good gifts for moms. Will the same movies make good gifts for dads? It is doubtful. Dads love competition, action and clever jokes. Kids love animation, silliness, and animal and kid characters.

The movies listed below will attempt to please all in your family. Each movie has enough sensitivity for moms; competition/ action or quips for dads; and silliness, kids or animal characters for the young ones.

Dolphin Tale (2011; PG)

This is a lovable movie about an injured dolphin named Winter, who was rescued and rehabilitated in a family-run marine hospital in Florida. The movie is based on a true story. Children viewers would love Winter who bonded with the boy who first helped her when she was washed ashore, all tangled up in a rope attached to a crab trap. The best aspect of the movie is how Winter’s human friends never gave up on her until they came up with the right prosthetic tale to replace her amputated one.

Dads will appreciate the character played by Morgan Freeman, a no-nonsense army doctor specializing in prosthetics who helped Winter get her new tale. They will also appreciate the character of Kyle and his personal struggle. Dads will recognize the domineering male ego of the Pelican Rufus.

Moms will simply be warmed by the idea of Winter and the young boy who found courage and devotion for an injured animal.

Today,Winter, who played herself in the movie resides at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Clearwater, Florida. Paid tours are offered to visitors who want to see Winter.

Winter is a national sensation and continues to inspire many people, especially ones with disability.

The Game Plan (2007; PG)

This movie stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Dads will love his over-confident character. He seemed to have it all, as a star pro-football player with good looks, money and enjoying freedom.  One day, he met his match, his unknown 8-year-old daughter who showed up at his door. Moms will have a smile on their faces at how this adorable little girl tortures this egotistic man in her very cute and endearing way.

The movie is really heartwarming. Slowly, Dwayne’s character becomes a true father. Kids will love all the silly and funny little incidents in the movie as father and daughter try to get along. Dwayne Johnson as an actor has a clear ability in portraying a role that it funny and engaging to kids. The movie is a Disney movie, and when it comes to kid entertainment Disney is at the top.

Monsters Inc. (2001, G)

The two main characters “monsters” in this movie are very comparable to regular guys or dads, except of course that they are “monsters”. Sully is sensitive and a worrier, while Mike is funny in a sarcastic kind of way. They both work in an energy generating plant. They collect energy from the screams of kids that they scare. They are monsters, remember? The twist is what moms probably wish that they had known before, that monsters are afraid of kids. This idea would have saved many kids from having monster nightmares. Moms can only fantasize that this is in fact the reality. Dads will like the character of Mike.

The movie is a Pixar animation, so it’s a winner for the kids. It is heartwarming as the audience watches a human kid bonds with her monster, Sully, who is a true softie in his heart, not just in his fur.

Mr. Mom (1983; PG)

You’ve heard of this, right? It’s role reversal. Dad is playing mom at home. It is funny to watch the dad acclimate to domestic duties. Moms will surely enjoy this movie. Kid audiences will have fun watching a dad try to do mom’s mundane chores. They might have already witnessed similar domestic catastrophes happened at home when their own dads attempted to do housework. No offense to dads.

If you are a funny dad, you may even want to humor your family by doing your own impression ofMr. Mom.

The movie is heartwarming to mom and dad audiences as they watch how the couple learned to understand each other more, and appreciated each other more. Ah, the everyday things that couples do for love. The kid audiences will not notice any of this. They’ll just think that mom and dad are hilarious.

Uncle Buck (1989, PG)

What happens when a slob-y and irresponsible uncle is asked by his brother and his wife to watch their two young kids and their teen girl for a few days? This is the story of Uncle Buck. More than likely, the younger kids will be impressed at the irresponsible uncle’s unconventional ways of doing housework. They are kids. They think that a domestic disaster is funny. What about the headstrong teenage girl? Is she going to be impressed by this slob of an uncle? But when was it when a teen was impressed by a grown-up, in this case, a s o-so grown-up?

The story became heartwarming whenUncle Bucklearned to be responsible, and the rebellious teen became nice. Yes, nice.

Uncle Buck’s “interesting” ways of doing things in this movie will appeal to kids. As to moms and dads, they can watch somebody else’s domestic problems unfold and stay unaffected.

Jungle to Jungle (1997; PG)

Actor Tim Allen, as Tim Taylor, from the television show Home Improvement was a man’s man. Dads will not mind watching him in a big-screen movie.

Tim Allen’s character, Michael, a commodities trader who lives in New York has a 13-year-old son who lives in a jungle in Venezuela with his mother, Michael’s ex-wife, Patricia.  Michael did not know that the boy existed until he visited the village where mom and son live with the local natives. Michael wanted Patricia to sign their final divorce papers, when he got a big surprise in meeting his son that his wife had after they separated.

You can probably imagine the challenge when father and son tried to build a relationship.

Michael ended-up taking his son back with him to New York at the disappointment of Michael's current fiancée. Needless to say, the boy Mimi-Siku, the son’s name, had a hard time adjusting from his jungle to a new different jungle.

The story is heartwarming as father and son finally understood each other and taught each other an important lesson about family and how this special connection can overcome the biggest differences. Moms will like the father and son bonding, while kids will like Mimi’s city adventures.
