Monster is Useless – Not Useful
Monster isn't very useful in job searching at all for the following reasons:
1) They are full of temp agencies. As a job seeker trying to find another job opportunity in the administrative field, I sometimes go to Monster and when I click on the administrative/clerical the company that is seeking the job seeker is mostly temp agencies like Volt, Officeteam etc. Whoever thought that a temp agency can help you actually find work. Temp agencies practically ignore you if you didn't meet their requirements.
2) They have an entry level site call MonsterTrak in which recent college graduates can try to find an entry level position or an internship here. That site isn't useful either. I for one am not planning on relocation. All I want to do was to find an entry level position in the Bay Area and when I used to search on this website, this site gives me nothing but positions in a different area like Los Angeles, Ca. Who made Monster the boss in telling me where I should live in order to find work?
3) They are very confusing to use. All I have is an Associates degree and the position was for a real estate clerk. After reading the entire job posting, the employer really wanted a bachelor's degree(it is required). A bachelor's degree is a lot different then having an Associates degree. How in the world did this job posting pop up in my search when these two college degrees are different?
Also in the interview tips they told us what to wear and what not to wear. Okay, but I am still confused. When do you wear a briefcase? The proper wording would be what to do and what not to do in an interview and that is when the writer of the website should have a segway of what not to carry in an interview. This article also confuses me if I was a man. When do men wear nail polish? I am sure that teenagers already worked at their first job. They are the ones that usually wear wild nail polish. After being in the workforce for a number of years, I have never seen a man wear nail polish.Monster would only cater to job seekers who already have some work experience. It isn't for people who are looking for their very first job.
Sometimes when I logged in to this website, they are always telling me to further my education. There is nothing wrong with taking a semester break. If I was interested in going to these schools, I would apply there myself. The economy is so high, I have to work at some place and educate myself at the same time. Students today aren't that lucky to have tuition so low.
