Why join the military you ask? There are a plethora of reasons I can personally think of. The armed forces, whether it's the Army, Navy, Marines, or Coast Guard you think of when you hear the term, offer many of the same benefits. So I know that most of you, if not familiar with our country's freedom fighters' job description, might not be aware of all that the military has to offer. Soldiers in the military have one of the most secure and beneficial jobs this country have to offer. In this article I'm going to give you the "low down" on some of the benefits of joining the service.Many people in the United States dream of one day going to college and a large portion of the population have the same question when deciding that they want to pursue their education, how will I pay for it? The military has a wide variety of ways to pay for that future. The military offers something called theG.I. Billwhich allows someone who joins, the opportunity to have their college paid for. The new post 9/11 G.I. bill, in addition to having school paid for, also allows a basic allowance for housing. With that the service member receives a pre-determined amount based on average housing costs for the area code of the college attended to pay for there rent while being a full time student. The rate is given for the rank of E-5 or equivalent with dependents.Free health care for soldiers and there family is another benefit that is one to good to pass up.Tricareoffers this to all soldiers and has come to the aid in helping families of all branches of service. As we all know medical expenses can often add up and sometimes put some of us into debt. No matter what the medical condition, the military pays to help those with a medical condition get better. Along with other benefits mentioned, how many of us working 40 hours a week or more enjoy a vacation? How about a vacation in which you still receive a paycheck? The military affords you the opportunity for leave. Every month you receive two and a half days of "paid vacation" to be used when you are given block leave.Many Americans who have ever asked themselves the question, why join the military, have much to think about before doing so. I hope that by reading this article I have provided you with a few valid points about the benefits of doing so.
