Making Bunny Ears Bunny Ears Crafts

From 3arf

Making bunny ears is such fun for all ages. Whether you're an adult who just likes to wear bunny ears to lighten up your workplace during Easter or you're a teacher looking for a fun craft for your classroom, bunny ears are a great way to resemble everyone's favorite bunny.

Bunny ears can be made with cloth, felt and floral wire or as simple as using construction paper when making bunny ears for children.

Cloth Bunny Ears

You will need:

White cloth or felt

Floral wire

Pink cloth or felt

A headband for adult or child (depending on who the bunny ears are for)

Hot glue gun or fabric glue

Card board to use as your pattern

First decide how long you would like the ears, and then draw the ears on the card board. Remember to cut four white ear pieces. Next cut the pink cloth about an inch smaller than the white ear pieces. You will only need two pink ear pieces.

Assemble the ears by gluing the white pieces together but leave the bottom end open to insert the wire. Next glue the pink ear pieces to the front of the ears.

Measure the length of floral wire you will need to hold the bunny ears up. You will need to double the length as you will need to fold the floral wire in half when you insert it in the end of the ears Add a half of an inch to the length of the wire to allow for you to glue the wire to the headband.

Insert the wire into the bunny ears and bend the extra half to run horizontal to the headband. Glue the floral wire to the headband. Fold the white material and glue it to the headband also.

The wire allows you to bend the ears slightly to give the ears a droopy look if you desire.

These ears can also be affixed to a straw hat and adorned with flowers for a festive Easter Bonnet.

Construction Paper Easter Bunny Ears

You will need:

White construction paper

Pink construction paper

Scissors

Glue

Elastic (this will be to hold the ears on)

Cardboard (for pattern)

Velcro strips

Draw the size ears you would like on the cardboard and cut around the pattern. Remember to allow an extra inch in length so the ears can be attached to the elastic. Trace the pattern on the white paper. Do the same with the pink paper but make it approximately one inch smaller than the white paper.

If the children are too young to use scissors you may want to precut the ears from the construction paper ahead of time.

Let the older children cut the ears from the paper. They will need four white pieces and two pink pieces to create their bunny ears.

Have your children glue the white pieces together leaving about a half inch unglued at the bottom and then glue on the pink paper to the front of the ears.

They are now ready to glue the bunny ears to the elastic. You will need to measure the length of elastic individually for each child. Glue the Velcro strip to the end of the elastic band. This will allow the child to fasten or remove the ears without tearing them.

Bend the left over half inch at the bottom of the ears outward and glue the ears about two inches apart to the middle of the elastic band. You now have Bunny ears.

Let the children decorate the elastic band before you do this project with washable paint or markers and let dry before assembling the ears.
