Major Factors Affecting Employee Satisfaction
If you are an employee, which the majority of us are, you will know what makes your job worth doing. There are several factors that influence how much you like your job, and how satisfied you are with doing it. Employers need to know what workers look at when deciding how much they like their jobs. This way, employers don't have to be constantly hiring new workers while keeping their best workers.
The first factor that will decide if you like your job is how much respect your employer shows you. Do you feel like part of a team working toward a common goal, or merely a cog in the machine. If you feel more like a person who merely is used to further the management team's goals, it can feel like a waste of time.
Another factor is how people are treated at work. You can be respected, but not treated well at all times. Your boss might appreciate your working ability, but you might have co-workers who bully you, or maybe your boss makes you work overtime every other week. Employees who aren't treated well by employers will not enjoy the job.
How much money do you make for your work? If you are not paid well, it can make it not as enjoyable to go to work. Sure, work isn't all about the money, and no one is looking to be a millionaire, but most employees are going to be happier if they are making a living wage. It isn't worth paying for gas, and having to deal with customers, if you are still going to be broke at the end of the month on a regular basis.
A big factor when it comes to job satisfaction is what kinds of advancement opportunities there are. If you are not able to work your way up, it can feel like a dead end. No one wants to be working at a dead end job and the employees will either leave, or will not give their best effort. If a worker feels like hard work is rewarded, it will make that worker work hard.
Many factors influence whether or not a worker is going to be satisfied. Good pay, respect for workers and the ability to advance will make employees enjoy work a little bit more. Employers should take note as this will avoid costs when it comes to training and development of new workers.
