Magnetic Bumper Stickers
Bumper stickers are fun! Who doesn't like to read a clever, funny saying on the back of the car in front? The bumper sticker certainly adds something to brighten up a dull journey as you're stuck in the car on a long drive with bored kids. Reading the messages on bumper stickers can be a nice distraction and give us a laugh at the same time. Some are hilarious. Others are stupid. Yet others are downright rude.
All in all, I think bumper stickers have more going for them than against them. I like the ones that are both clever AND funny. The bumper sticker that makes you think and gives you a real laugh is the one I would want to place on my car. I couldn't really care too much about the political or religious views of the driver ahead but I will gladly read the funny line and bring a bit of laughter to the day.
No matter where we may roam in this big wide world, people have messages they want us to read and this is becoming more evident as we take to our public highways and observe the number of cars now sporting bumper stickers. Traveling along any interstate, you will see cars sporting bumper stickers of all kinds, from humorous to political, religious and the inevitable male/female kind. Some convey words of wisdom while others are downright rude and not for family viewing. The bumper sticker is a way for drivers to make a statement without having to identify themselves most of the time. Airing their political views, sexual persuasion or religious beliefs is now something they can do without speaking a word.
Most who use and read bumper stickers are usually on the lookout for the humorous type. Stickers with messages like " Hard Work Never Killed Anyone - But Why Take The Chance" and "Line Dancing - The Sad Results When Cousins Breed" are just two examples of the humor you will find on bumper stickers. Humor should be welcomed and is certainly more acceptable to the driver behind than those making serious political statements or proclaiming severe religious messages. Bumper stickers can for the most part, be enjoyed by travelers cooped up in their cars for hours on a long trip.
One problem related to bumper stickers is of course their capacity to cause accidents as drivers move up too close in an attempt to read the next funny line on the car ahead. Car ahead stops for some reason and the driver behind is too busy staring at the bumper sticker to notice and now you have a prang. Apart from that danger, possibly the only other criticism of bumper stickers is that many of them should not be displayed in public. Lewd and vulgar messages posted on the bumpers of cars are often not suitable for young eyes and objectionable also to many adults. Humor does not have to be vulgar to be funny and in most cases, actually detracts from the attempt.
Some who buy bumper stickers never actually put them on their car but will hang them on walls around the home or in the bedroom. The messages contained can often be wise as well as funny. Some stickers are motivational and include proverbs or sayings that people can use in business or family life. Because people like the idea of pithy sayings that make an important point or make them laugh, bumper stickers have become quite a business. People will buy them for themselves or as gifts for friends and family, often to make a point if it is humorous. There is no doubt that bumper stickers add a bit of interest as we traverse the highways and interstates and can often break the boredom of a long trip as we read some wise or humorous words on the back end of cars.
