Layoffs how to Handle it on your Resume
How you left a job is never listed on the resume, no matter if you were laid off, quit or fired. This information just doesn't go on the resume. What is on the resume regarding your job is the name of the company that you worked for, location of company, job title, and your duties and responsibilities.
If you are required to also fill out an application form, you may be asked to give the reason for leaving a job or company. You will then have to put it on your application form. There is no reason to feel worried about this since layoffs are common occurrences.
A resume only lists your best qualities and qualifications. It is your advertisement for who you are. An application form is different. It may ask many questions you did not have to address on the resume. You must fill out application forms completely. If you omit anything it may be discarded. That is how employers sift through the stacks of resumes and applications they get. Resumes have to be well written and list your best qualities or they are discarded or ranked. The best ones have the best chance of getting you through the door to that interview.
Remember, do not put any information on your resume about why you left and that includes a layoff. Success with that resume!
